In order to create the life that you would want to live in, you need to be able to visualize. Your mind needs to be in a state where it is relaxed, calm, and balanced enough to produce a picture of your future that sweeps you off your feet.

One way of centering yourself – and by the way in my opinion the most powerful way – is through controlled breathing as shown in one of my videos: 'How to Breathe – the Power of your Breath".

A second way – and this would go in tandem with the above mentioned – would be meditation. Click here for a video on "How to properly Meditate – the easy way".

There is another way – the usage of herbal supplements – to help relax the mind during the day and help you to fall asleep after a hard day's work.

In this blog entry I would like to highlight 4 such supplements:

1) Melatonin:

Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. It helps regulate other hormones and maintains the body's circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is an internal 24-hour “clock” that plays a critical role in when we fall asleep and when we wake up. When it is dark, your body produces more melatonin; when it is light, the production of melatonin drops. Being exposed to bright lights in the evening or too little light during the day can disrupt the body' s normal melatonin cycles. For example, jet lag, shift work, and poor vision can disrupt melatonin cycles.

Melatonin has strong antioxidant effects. Preliminary evidence suggests that it may help strengthen the immune system.

Studies suggest that melatonin supplements may help people with disrupted circadian rhythms (such as people with jet lag or those who work the night shift) and those with low melatonin levels (such as some seniors and people with schizophrenia) to sleep better. A review of clinical studies suggests that melatonin supplements may help prevent jet lag, particularly in people who cross five or more time zones.

Dosage suggestion: start with 5mg and observe how long it takes you to fall asleep. You can crank up the dosage to 15mg if necessary.

For more information on the impact of melatonin on your health, please read this article.

2) Magnesium:

Magnesium citrate, a magnesium salt of citric acid, is a chemical agent which is used medicinally as a saline laxative and to completely empty the bowel prior to a major surgery or colonoscopy as well as being a natural supplement to ward off the negative effects of a prolonged period of stress or an overreaction to stress. Going through a stressful period without sufficient magnesium can set up a deficit which, if not corrected, can linger, causing more stress and further health problems.

Magnesium has an important role in essentially every life function. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve activity, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system and keeps bones strong.

Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure and is involved in energy metabolism, helping overcome low energy levels, fatigue, insomnia, and anxiety. Many researchers believe that no single dietary factor is as critical as magnesium.

Dosage: you can take it daily, but you would need to build levels that your body can sustain otherwise you will end up having diarrhea. Start with half the recommended amount and work up your way until you feel the effect.

3) St. John's Wort:

St. John’s wort is an herb most commonly used for depression and conditions that sometimes go along with depression such as anxiety, tiredness, loss of appetite and trouble sleeping.

Dosage: start with 300mg in the evening and pump it up to around 900mg if need be.

4) L-Theanine:

L-Theanine is an amino acid commonly found in tea, specifically in green tea. The calming effect of green tea may seem contradictory to the stimulatory property of tea's caffeine content but it can be explained by the action of L-theanine. This amino acid actually acts antagonistically against the stimulatory effects of caffeine on the nervous system. The amino acid directly stimulates the production of alpha brain waves, creating a state of deep relaxation and mental alertness similar to what is achieved through meditation. Second, L-theanine is involved in the formation of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, gamma amino butyric acid (GABA). GABA influences the levels of two other neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin, producing the key relaxation effect. For more info you can check out this article.

Dosage: you can take several hundred mg per day as no side effects are known.

Throughout our lives our bodies are being filled with a variety of disease and cancer causing pollutants. These toxins reach us through the air we breathe, the food we eat, the medicines we take and the water we drink. As more of these poisons are used every day and cancer rates continue to climb, being able to turn to a proven, natural, detoxifying treatment like the Gerson Therapy is not only reassuring, but necessary.

The Gerson Therapy is a powerful, natural treatment that boosts your body’s own immune system to heal cancer, arthritis, heart disease, allergies, and many other degenerative diseases. One aspect of the Gerson Therapy that sets it apart from most other treatment methods is its all-encompassing nature. An abundance of nutrients from thirteen fresh, organic juices are consumed every day, providing your body with a superdose of enzymes, minerals and nutrients. These substances then break down diseased tissue in the body, while enemas aid in eliminating the lifelong buildup of toxins from the liver.

With its whole-body approach to healing, the Gerson Therapy naturally reactivates your body’s magnificent ability to heal itself – with no damaging side-effects. Over 200 articles in respected medical literature, and thousands of people cured of their “incurable” diseases document the Gerson Therapy’s effectiveness. The Gerson Therapy is one of the few treatments to have a 60 year history of success.

Although its philosophy of cleansing and reactivating the body is simple, the Gerson Therapy is a complex method of treatment requiring significant attention to detail. While many patients have made full recoveries practicing the Gerson Therapy on their own, for best results we encourage starting treatment at a Gerson Institute licensed treatment center.

The Gerson Therapy is a state of the art, contemporary, alternative and natural treatment which utilizes the body’s own healing mechanism in the treatment and cure of chronic debilitating illness. When it was introduced to the world by Max Gerson, M.D., the dietary therapy was so far ahead of its time that there were almost no rationales available in the scientific literature to explain how it could produce cures in chronic as well as infectious diseases. But, because it did cure many cases of advanced tuberculosis, heart disease, cancer and numerous lesser conditions, the Gerson Therapy was established as a major contribution to the medical field, through the publication of articles in peer reviewed medical literature.

Max Gerson treated many hundreds of patients and continued to develop and refine his therapy up until his death in 1959, at the age of 78. His most famous patient was Dr. Albert Schweitzer, whom Gerson cured of advanced diabetes when Schweitzer was 75. Schweitzer returned to his African hospital, won the Nobel prize, and worked past age 90. Schweitzer wrote “I see in Dr. Gerson one of the most eminent geniuses in the history of medicine.”

The Gerson Therapy seeks to regenerate the body to health, supporting each important metabolic requirement by flooding the body with nutrients from almost 20 pounds of organically grown fruits and vegetables daily. Most is used to make fresh raw juice, one glass every hour, 13 times per day. Raw and cooked solid foods are generously consumed. Oxygenation is usually more than doubled, as oxygen deficiency in the blood contributes to many degenerative diseases. The metabolism is also stimulated through the addition of thyroid, potassium and other supplements, and by avoiding heavy animal fats, excess protein, sodium and other toxins.

Degenerative diseases render the body increasingly unable to excrete waste materials adequately, commonly resulting in liver and kidney failure. To prevent this, the Gerson Therapy uses intensive detoxification to eliminate wastes, regenerate the liver, reactivate the immune system and restore the body’s essential defenses – enzyme, mineral and hormone systems. With generous, high-quality nutrition, increased oxygen availability, detoxification, and improved metabolism, the cells – and the body – can regenerate, become healthy and prevent future illness.

Most therapies, conventional or alternative treat only the individual symptoms while ignoring what is ultimately causing the disease. The reason the Gerson Therapy is effective with so many different ailments is because it restores the body’s incredible ability to heal itself. Rather than treating only the symptoms of a particular disease, the Gerson Therapy treats the cause of the disease itself.

Juicing is an essential component of the Gerson Therapy. To ensure reliable results, the Gerson patient will need to purchase an appropriate juicer. Dr. Gerson’s research indicates that cancer patients must have a two- stage juicer with a separate grinder and hydraulic press. One-step juicers generally do not produce the same quality of enzyme, mineral or micronutrient content, and some patients have failed to experience results simply by using the wrong juicer.

The Diet:

The Gerson diet is naturally high in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, micro-nutrients, extremely low in sodium and fats, and rich in fluids.

The following is a typical daily diet for a Gerson patient on the full therapy regimen:

  • Thirteen glasses of fresh, raw carrot/apple and green-leaf juices prepared hourly from fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.
  • Three full vegetarian meals, freshly prepared from organically grown fruits, vegetables and whole grains. A typical meal will include salad, cooked vegetables, baked potatoes, vegetable soup and juice.
  • Fresh fruit and fresh fruit dessert available at all hours for snacking, in addition to the regular diet.

All medications used in connection with the Gerson Therapy are classed as biologicals, materials of organic origin that are supplied in therapeutic amounts.

  • Potassium compound
  • Lugol’s solution
  • Vitamin B-12
  • Thyroid hormone
  • Injectable Crude Liver Extract
  • Pancreatic Enzymes
  • Enemas of coffee and/or chamomile

A very important part of the Gerson Therapy is frequent detoxification of the tissues and blood. This is accomplished through a variety of means, first and foremost through the use of coffee enemas.

The scientific basis for the use of coffee enemas is well documented, and can be obtained from the Gerson Institute. Patients report that the enemas decrease pain and hasten healing. Biologically, enzyme systems of the gut wall and liver are stimulated, and bile flow is increased. This has been shown to enhance the body’s ability to eliminate toxic residues from environmental, chemotherapeutic, and other sources.

Tumor and other diseased tissue is also more rapidly eliminated as it is broken down.
Other means of detoxification include castor oil, used as an additional stimulant of bile flow and as another way to enhance the liver’s ability to filter blood. In addition, digestive enzymes serve to enhance absorption of nutrients as well as assist in the elimination of damaged tissue.

I have delved into many nutritional theories over the years. While I never promote a single theory, as I totally buy into the “bio-individuality” concept, where one man’s food is another man’s poison, I still have become a keen fan of Weston Price thoughts, findings, and theories and thus wanted to share them with you:

Weston A. Price, DDS was a Cleveland dentist, who has been called the “Charles Darwin” of Nutrition. Searching for the causes of dental decay and physical degeneration he observed daily in his dental practice, he turned from test tubes and microscopes to study “people with fine teeth” – the isolated “primitives”.

Traveling worldwide, Dr. Price found that beautiful, straight teeth, freedom from decay, stalwart bodies, resistance to disease, and fine characters were typical of primitives on their traditional diets.

Dr. Price’s classic volume, “Nutritional and Physical Degeneration”, published in 1939, is available from the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation at and describes the fieldwork he did in the 1920s and 1930s among various world cultures, with the original goal of recording and studying the dental health and development of pre-industrial populations including tribal Africans and Pacific islanders, Inuit, North and South American natives, and Australian aborigines. His book contains numerous photographs of the people he studied, and includes comparison photographs of the teeth and facial structure of people who lived on their traditional diet and people who had adopted or grown up on industrialized food. In certain instances it was possible for Dr Price to examine and photograph traditional with industrialized eaters from the same family. These photographs illustrate in an unforgettable way the physical degeneration and problems that occur when human groups abandon nourishing traditional diets in favor of modern convenience foods: such as arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, intestinal problems, and chronic fatigue.

His worldwide findings clearly showed that dental caries and deformed dental arches, resulting in crowded, crooked teeth and unattractive appearance, were merely a sign of physical degeneration, resulting from what he had suspected – nutritional deficiencies or as he called them “impoverished foods of civilization” – sugar, white flour, pasteurized milk, and convenience foods filled with extenders and additives.

Price also noticed that his younger patients were suffering from dental problems such as crooked teeth, overbites and pinched nostrils. These children also suffered from problems of infections, allergies, asthma, poor vision and behavioral problems.

As Price made these discoveries, he also came up with an idea. He set out on a global trek to examine other primitive societies and their health conditions and teeth. He found that those in other cultures had diets that were at least four times higher in minerals and vitamin C and B complex than the diets of Americans. Many of the healthy groups of people that Price studied ate special foods like cod liver oil, fish, eggs, organ meats, cream and butter and raw unpasteurized whole milk from grass-fed cows.

Price then formulated his findings into the Weston Price Diet. This diet goes against 20th and 21st century popular diet recommendations, which emphasize a low-fat diet. Instead, the Weston Price Diet, and through the funding efforts of the Weston A. Price Foundation, advocate for an eating style that is nutrient-dense, natural and unprocessed.

The Weston Price Diet espouses that the modern diet is the reason for chronic disease as well as the surge in overweight and obesity trends. The program encourages a diet that is generally low-carbohydrate with the basis of calories coming from natural and animal-based food sources. The following foods are allowed on the Weston Price Diet:

  • Butter, cream and whole raw milk
  • Organ meats, such as liver
  • Pasture-fed meats, dairy and eggs
  • Wild fish, shellfish and fish roe
  • Organic vegetables and fruits
  • Traditional lacto-fermented foods
  • Healthy lacto-fermented soft drinks
  • Homemade bone broths
  • Properly prepared whole grains and traditional sourdough breads
  • Unrefined salt

Foods to avoid are:

  • Modern soy foods
  • Pasteurized, homogenized dairy
  • Margarine and trans fats
  • Processed vegetable oils
  • Dry breakfast cereals
  • Artificial sweeteners and additives
  • Fast foods and sodas
  • Refined sweeteners and fruit juices
  • White flour products
  • Factory-raised meats and farm-raised fish

The diet also encourages eating locally when possible as well as choosing foods that are raised without pesticides, antibiotics, hormones and fertilizers.

Some of the tenets the Weston Price Diet maintains are:

  • Animal fats do not cause heart disease, cancer and obesity but actually protect us against these conditions.
  • Modern soy foods contribute to thyroid problems, digestive disorders and endocrine disruption.
  • Low-fat diets can lead to many health problems, including emotional instability.
  • Vegetarians do not live longer; vegan diets do not protect against cancer and heart disease.

Diet’s pros:

  • Promotes getting nutrients naturally from animals and foods that are unprocessed
  • Dental health can be linked to overall health
  • Diet recommendations are clear and straightforward
  • Recommends eliminating processed and refined foods
  • Eliminates white flour, refined sweeteners and vegetable oil
  • High fat content will enhance satiety
  • Backed by some scientific studies

Diet’s cons:

  • Considered a controversial diet because of its promotion of raw milk and high fat, albeit natural foods
  • Requires a tremendous amount of diligence since diet prohibits eating processed foods as well as many grains
  • Not vegan- or vegetarian-friendly

The Weston Price Diet may be considered a controversial program but its basic message deserves a listen to, namely that fat is not to be feared as long as a whole-foods and nature-based diet is steadily consumed.

While vegetarians and vegans won’t find much comfort in this lifestyle eating plan, its promotion of a general low-carbohydrate, nutrient-dense, unprocessed diet as way to maintain health and stave off disease has shown some promise in scientific research studies.

The Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF), co-founded in 1999 by Sally Fallon (Morell) and nutritionist Mary G. Enig (PhD), is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to “restoring nutrient-dense foods to the American diet through education, research and activism. Its goals include disseminating the research and dietary advice of dentist and nutritional researcher Weston A. Price, who studied the foods and health of isolated non-industrialized peoples around the world, and supporting the scientific validation of traditional diets.

There are no “good” or “bad” energies. Energies are energies, period; we are the ones who categorize them into “positive” and “negative”. In the energetic realm there is only an “is” or an “is not” without any distinctions whatsoever when it comes to race, gender, education or wealth. By simply existing, everyone is given an equal access to them. They not only come for free and in unlimited supply, they also work for everyone in the same way, with only one caveat to this: you have to trust and believe, as without faith nothing can be achieved.

On one hand it felt liberating and joyful and invigorating to discover this fundamental law as it meant that we could create and achieve almost anything we wanted; and since we are all equal we all have equal chances to utilize them. On the other hand though it also felt scary and intimidating when I realized that we could just as much abuse this law and cause harm and destruction instead of creating the loving, joyful, and happy life we seek.

Let me explain: some of us, too few until now, have realized the co-existence of the physical and the energetic worlds. Those few though have been able to move mountains and change the world within their lifetime. Whether they had an experience similar to mine or not makes no difference, somehow they must have felt the interconnectedness of our universe and utilized its unlimited potential and power. Here are some examples: Mohandas Gandhi, who created the modern State of India and liberated it from British rule through passive and peaceful resistance; Nelson Mandela led South Africa out of its apartheid constitution and became the first black president of his country; the Buddha dedicated his entire life to healing people once he realized that everything is evanescent; and the Dalai Lama has been traveling the world as an ambassador for pacifism working on peaceful means to liberate Nepal from its Chinese rule.

Most regrettably though, as already indicated before, one must not necessarily have the best of intentions to learn how to tap into this realm and utilize it for their benefit. Aiming to utilize the energies so that they benefit mankind is a conscious and noble choice that each one of us must make in order to be able to step into the footsteps of the aforementioned highly admirable humans. There are ample examples in our history though where the cosmic energies were abused by individuals, groups, and systems, from Adolf Hitler to Josef Stalin, to devastate, abuse, and extort.

Since my life is about love, healing, and taking charge of our life, showing us that we are not a Bouncy Ball but indeed can learn how to Ride Our Horse, I do not want to focus any more on these negative examples; although I felt obliged to give a full and complete picture of the energetic universe to do justice to its neutral nature and to show that it is up to us, and no one else, to cause good in this world.

I am a big fan of the documentary “What the Bleep do we know” so I thought I would share with you a part of the movie and start a discussion with you:
One of the parts of the movie that peaked my interest was the fact that it tries to convey to us, in layman’s terms, how powerful our mind is. It so powerful – way beyond what we can process – that it constantly creates our experiences, even split seconds before we actually experience them. And this is where the Random Number Generators or RNGs come in.
It took me several years to realize that we, our mind, not only is the starting point for getting sick or healed again, but also for everything that we experience every single day of our life. As a naturally gifted healer I had no problems in seeing the interconnectedness of body, mind, spirit, and cosmic energies as I perceive all dis-ease as an aberrated flow of energy. All we have to do to regain our balance and health is to make sure that the energies flow smoothly again. This is actually much simpler done that you might think. Your breath is the key to healing. If you do not know anything else, simply close your eyes, put your hands on your belly button and breathe air in and out of your tummy for some 10 minutes. While your belly goes up and down, visualize a river and its flow of gentle water running down your body, from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. Over and over again. Soon you will feel calm and relaxed. This relaxation will take over your entire body and start to penetrate your painful part of the body. Continue to breathe. Repeat this for several days and you will realize that through your own breath you have brought healing to your body and mind.
Our mind is so much stronger than to just being limited to the boundaries of your body. It goes way beyond that. It penetrates other people and helps co-create other people’s experiences as much as it does for our own life.
Over time I gradually learned how to utilize our body’s self-healing powers and apply to life experiences. We can alter, improve, redo, or start anew anything – as long as we know what a powerful tool we carry between our shoulders.
I challenge you to utilize your powerful mind to create something tangible within a week. Draw a mental picture, as vividly as you can, and dedicate 10 minutes of your day, ideally before falling asleep, in focusing on it while taking your deep, relaxed belly breaths. A short vacation destination, finding the car that you can afford or the cocktail dress for your friend’s wedding in a couple of months. I am confident that you will be able to bring about whatever it is that you would want to see manifested in your life – as long as can streamline your energies and tap into the cosmic realm of possibilities.

If you have been following me and my philosophies for a while then you know that I am convinced that EVERYTHING that we experience in our life starts and ends with our mind. I know that we are products of what we think (about ourselves), how we feel (about ourselves), and what we truly believe is possible (or not).

I believe that everything starts with a thought, an idea if you wish, and a corresponding emotion. The more similar thoughts and emotions we have subsequently, the more the possibility of a creation becomes real and possible or vice versa.

In this blog entry I would like to direct your attention to the work of the Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto. In short, in invented a rather ingenious way where can take pictures of frozen water crystals.

Now you might say, that this is nothing groundbreaking. Well, through taking hundreds, if not thousands of pictures of frozen crystals, he realized that the crystals not only had different shapes and forms but also colors, all depending on where the water came from. A water crystal from a contaminated well looked very different to a water crystal from a serene mountain lake. The more and longer he researched the more he realized that the water crystals literally absorbed the “emotions” of it surroundings. A loving, serene, clean water environment creates lavish and shining and exuberant crystals, such as the ones taken from crystal clean mountain creeks. While contaminated and polluted water produces bleak, simple, and dismal crystals as was the case with the crystal of a water taken from a dam where the corpse of a murdered human was found.

Once he was convinced that water absorbs the energies of its environment he wanted to know if water would also take over thoughts and emotions from people when directed sent to the water in a container. Much to his surprise he realized that the crystals responded to our thoughts and emotions right away. Beautiful and shining crystals turned yellow and bleak when people sent thoughts of hatred while negatively charged crystals turned beautiful when people share emotions of love, peace and joy. I would highly encourage you to check out Masaru Emoto’s website and see for yourself how emotions and thoughts impact our water.

After reading this you might ask yourself what you can do to drink positively charged water? This is very simple to achieve: for years I have been charging my tap water with love, joy and health by simply writing these words on little cards which I then stick on my Brita pitcher. Do it for a for weeks and then share with me your experiences at – I would be very happy to hear from you.

During all my years as a coach I have always remained a neutral agent to my clients and never promoted a specific supplement company – in part because I hadn’t found a company worthwhile to team up with and in part because I simply couldn’t be bothered to sell a specific product.

All of this changed when I was introduced to Ringana – a family run, organic, vegetarian/vegan, super ethical, free of any animal testing, and super freshly (quasi on demand) producing a nutrition supplement and natural cosmetics company – about a year ago during one of my visits to Europe. Since then I have been able to supply my clients across the globe with outstanding products – regrettably, my non-European clients cannot directly order from Ringana as they do not ship to far away destinations, such as North America or Australia. But whenever I am in Europe, I can ship the goodies as a private shipment to my peeps in the US and Canada. My peeps in Europe can order directly from them without any hassle – Ringana offers a fantastic customer support who are very anxious to help in any possible way and offer a 100% money back guarantee whenever you are dissatisfied with any of their products. The company is romantically headquartered in a medieval castle in Hartberg, Styria, about 80 miles south of Vienna, Austria. Alone the drive through the rolling hills of northern Styria put you in a serene mood and open up your heart and soul to leading a holistic and healthy lifestyle.

Ringana offers four different types of products: 1) natural cosmetics: only using natural ingredients without any additives or preservatives which on one hand means that their products only have a shelf-life of some three months but on the other hand means that their products truly are all natural without any preservatives whatsoever (and that is quite an attribute!): shampoos, lotions, and oils 2) preventative supplements: cleansing sachets, antioxidants, weight control products, and energy boosting powder 3) laser targeted supplements helping with various problems: heart and blood pressure, joint problems, ADD and concentration issues, brittle hair and nail, weight issues, low energy and fatigue syndrome, bladder and prostate problems, etc., and finally 4) dog food supplements for overweight, mature and sick puppies (this is a brand new product line only introduced on June 1st due to their high customer demand).
Simply fantastic and awe-inspiring products that have won some major local and national prizes for quality, sustainability, and ethical standards – for more info just check out

I am proud to say that as of this month I have teamed up with Ringana and will help build up a distribution network with them in Europe and then, once the time is ripe, in North America.

What have Elvis and John in common? Both were artists, sure, and both are dead, also sure. Upon their death both were cut open and their autopsy revealed that their bloated bodies had about 50 pounds (Elvis) and 70 pounds (John) of impacted fecal matter in their digestive tracts!! This is mind blowing! 70 pounds of toxic food residue (crap) – that is almost half my weight!! Unbelievable!

John and Elvis would have both died with or without so much crap in their digestive tracts, but the point here is that they both had so much crap in their bodies!! Holy smokes! How can that happen?

The average healthy person who is not suffering from constipation will have about 5 pounds of fecal matter in their intestines and colon at any one time. That is the average healthy person, hence the minority, mind you! Many though – the real “average” person if you wish – carry up to 15 pounds, but don’t show the symptom of bloating because the colon will first drop down internally before it starts to expand outwardly when even more toxic waste accumulates.

Obviously, cleaning out the impacted fecal matter in your own body could contribute to a slimming of the abdomen and some significant weight loss. It might also save your life. It will certainly improve the quality of your life.

People who are constipated or irregular can carry up to 40 pounds or more of this toxic fecal matter which is continually poisoning their body and organs, providing an environment conducive to the formation of polyps and colon cancer cells, blocking the passage of waste material, and inhibiting the absorption of nutrients and electrolytes and water.

In plain and simple English: if you don’t get rid of the toxins in your body, you will die prematurely! Period! Cancer, ulcers, liver and kidney problems/failure, and so forth.

In order to avoid a premature collapse of your body these toxins basically would need to exit your system. And no matter how you look at it there are only a few ways to get rid of toxins: elimination would be the obvious one, colonics, enemas, sweating, purging, and of course fasting/cleansing.

Fasting has been a part of our culture for millennia – from ancient cultures such as the aborigines of Australia, Chinese, India and Mayas, to organized religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Baha’i – they all know about the healing powers of eliminating (or at least reducing) food intake for a period of time and thus have incorporated fasting periods into their routine.

Only if you stop putting more food into your system you give your body a chance to get rid of the old crap that is stuck in your intestinal tracts so that it can eventually see the light of day again.
Here is a very simple way to detoxify your body in 48-72 hours:
For 48 hours stop eating food – you can drink as much water as you want – if water alone doesn’t do it for you, because you get dizzy, get a headache, or whatever the case might be, you can mix yourself the Master Cleanser drink as described in my post on March 16, 2010. Ideally you would start your cleanse on a New Moon day – by doing so you are taking advantage of the power of the moon as described in my entry on November 28, 2009 (Lunar cleansing).
48 hours should be sufficient to empty your stomach enough to give it a break. On the second night of your cleanse, drink a “smooth move” tea before going to bed helping you to empty your intestinal tracts the next morning when you get up.

From now on try to keep your stomach “empty” for at least 12 hours per day. Basically every night when we go do bed, we are fasting. If the fast is long enough it helps our body to detoxify in a natural way. Have dinner at 7:00 p.m. at the latest and when you have breakfast the next morning at 7:00 a.m. you will have given your system 12 hours rest – perfect.
If you could also drink a pint of water upon waking up then you win the gold medal. Water is the cheapest, simplest and most effective, easily available detoxifier around!

If you have enjoyed this blog post entry then sign up for my free bi-weekly Ezine and become a fan on Facebook.

I am a big fan of cleansing and fasting and giving our body a break from its normal routine. Eating food basically means creating toxins in our body – almost no matter how well (and/or how little) you eat! The only way to detoxify, that I know of at least, is to cleanse your body either by completely fasting or going through a detox program that puts you on a highly regimented diet for a while.

Obviously how much we eat – again, almost no matter how well we eat – has an impact on our overall health and toxicity level. The famous “obese vs skinny rat studies” (I do not remember the actual name and the years these were conducted anymore – if you know, please let me know)  have proven without a shadow of a doubt that the amount of food we eat has an impact on our life span. Hundreds, if not thousands, of rats were observed in a controlled environment in sets of three: one rat was fed the amount of calories its weight would require, one rat twice as many calories and one rat only half as many. The rats that got fed the “appropriate” amount of food ended up living for two years, the average age of a rat. The rats that were fed twice as many calories died already after one year and the rats that were on a 50% calories regimen ended up living for three years. An incredible insight into the impact of the amount of food on our lifespan – ponder this for a  while!

Well, over the years I have come to appreciate Stanley Burroughs “Master Cleanser” and have used his system to detoxify and also shed some pounds ;) I know that his “Master Cleanser” has provoked some controversy, such as that it hasn’t been peer reviewed or that it is only another fad diet. Think about these objection whatever you want, I think that his system offers a great way to detox and get re-energized again.

I admit that I have slightly changed his original recipe – if you are a puritan then read his book “The Master Cleanse” – here is how it works:

  • You will need 1 lemon. Use only fresh (ideally organic) lemons and squeeze them freshly every time you prepare a concoction!
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons of genuine maple syrup grade B (it offers more nutritional value than the more refined grade A).
  • A pinch (1/10 teaspoon) of cayenne pepper.
  • 10 oz water at room temperature (not chilled as cold water washes off the oils in your intestinal tracts).
  • Shake it all up and drink throughout the day as many glasses as you like.

As you are not eating you would need to keep your bowels moving. First thing in the morning, ideally before drinking your first concoction of the day, or even regular water, do an internal salt flush:

  • Prepare a full quart of lukewarm water.
  • Add two teaspoons of sea salt (and not just the regular iodized salt).
  • Stir it up and drink the entire quart of salt and water on an empty stomach.

In the evening make yourself a “smooth move” tea right before you go to bed. This will get your bowls rocking upon waking up. Using this two-tier bowl movement system will guarantee that you get a lot of your food residue out of your system that would have possibly never seen the light of day otherwise ;)

What I realized throughout my over 10 years of cleansing experience is that my body, when getting hungry, actually, mostly only craves one specific thing in particular: fats. Our brain is in constant need of these fats as it cannot store them. The good ones that is: omega three fatty acids such as nuts, fish, avocados, etc. and not the french fries crap! So now I eat 1 to 2 teaspoons of high grade cold pressed virgin olive oil per day during my cleanse days helping me to sail through my cleanses without any hiccups ;)

Now, Burroughs recommends that you at least do his cleanse for 10 days. Well, I do concur although I can say that I have used his cleanse while on my 36-hour moon cleanse (see one of my previous postings) or an extended versions of it: 72 or 96-hour cleanses. As I try to regularly cleanse – when possible on every new and full moon –  my body and mind sometimes do not take my cleansing aspirations too well, forcing me to discontinue with my cleanse barely after I started it, by making me feel dizzy, nauseated or even giving me a slight migraine. On other occasions, my body and mind really embrace the cleanse and then I end up cleansing for several days, although I originally only had intended to cleanse for 36-hours. You see, one really has to pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you – and when you listen, you will be greatly rewarded. In order to make my 36-hour cleanses easier and less stressful on my system I often use Burroughs system instead of only drinking water for 36 hours. It can be done and I have done it often – using Burroughs system makes it a little easier, that is all.

It is statistically proven that there are more violent crimes during full moon periods, but also more births, more complications during surgeries, as well as interruptions of our otherwise perfect sleep patterns. On the other hand, the days surrounding the new moon are considered to be the easiest days of the months for the police force and the medical profession alike.
This article will only focus on seizing the power of the moon for cleansing and detoxing purposes. In the weeks and months to come I will expand on this topic, covering all aspects of lunar healing – just be patient ;)

Ancient Knowledge
Nothing that I am writing here is new. It is age-old knowledge which has withstood the test of time for thousands of years and deemed an ancient truth – the influence of the lunar rhythms on our own bioindividual rhythms and the art of seizing its power at the right time.

Physical Forces
The gravitational force of the moon impacts everything and everyone on this planet: humans, animals, plants, and seas, all the way into the deepest core of the soul of Mother Earth.
In the course of its roughly 28-day orbit around the earth, the moon will go through these four distinct phases: new moon, waxing moon, full moon, and waning moon. Although of course the two main segments are the waxing and the waning moon, it is highly beneficial to know the moon’s special forces during the few hours of the full and the new moon as well.

  1. Waning moon: during the approximately 14 days in which the moon travels from its fullest to its smallest it helps us to detoxify and to consolidate. Any activity that supports you with detoxifying your body will be doubly effective, and may it only be if you drink a detoxifying tea.
  2. New moon: on the day of a new moon, the detoxification capacity of our body is at its highest as it gets the support of an “empty” moon that has just finished its 14 day long purging journey. Thus this would be the ideal time to start anything that you would like to “get rid of”, such as quitting smoking, or biting your fingernails or simply detoxifying your body. Withdrawal symptoms don’t appear as strong, helping us purge from our bad habits easier.
  3. Waxing moon: during these 14 days the moon gets bigger and stronger by the day. The closer you get to full moon, the more effective its power will get in helping you to build up energy, to absorb and to store nutrition, as well as to fortify your body in general.
  4. Full moon: precisely because our body absorbs all kinds of substances so well on this day – from medication and nutrition to all the toxins that we have in our foods – it is the ideal day to fast and detox for 24 hours giving our bodies a break from its routine

In summary: detoxify when moon is waning and fortify when it is waxing.

How to go about your cleanse:

  1. The night before full or new moon, only eat a light supper – such as a soup or cooked veggies with rice. When going to bed visualize all toxins leaving your body (through sweating, going to the bathrooms, or breathing them out of your system) so that you can reclaim your healthy and strengthened body again.
  2. Do only drink tap water during the day. If you have troubles refraining from food, then add some freshly squeezed lemon juice and some honey to your water. You can drink these as often as you feel like it during the day. If you still feel woozy, lightheaded or might even get a headache, then eat a banana and a handful of raw almonds.
  3. Upon going to bed, visualize your body being healthy, strong and free of toxins.
  4. Have a light breakfast upon waking up (such as fruits). Resume your normal eating habits with your lunch.
